Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Avora — what it is, how it works, and how we keep your guide safe.
- What is a digital legacy planning guide?
- A digital legacy planning guide is a secure record of your important contacts, documents, wishes, and personal guidance — created so your loved ones know what to do after you die or become incapacitated. Avora lets you build this guide in minutes, keep it private, and share it with one trusted person when the time comes.
- Is Avora a will or a legal document?
- No. Avora is not a will and does not replace legal estate planning. It is a practical guide for your loved ones — covering contacts, document locations, funeral wishes, and personal messages. It works alongside your will to ensure everything important is clear and accessible when your family needs it most.
- Who should use a digital legacy planning guide?
- Anyone who wants to spare their family the stress of searching for information during an already difficult time. Avora is particularly valuable for UK adults aged 40 and over, parents, carers, and anyone with a complex set of contacts, accounts, or wishes they want clearly documented. Setup takes under 15 minutes.
- How does Avora keep my guide secure?
- Your guide is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and protected in transit by TLS 1.3. Avora staff cannot read the contents of your guide. Data is hosted on UK and EU infrastructure, and the service is built to comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- How does the trusted contact work?
- You nominate one trusted person — a partner, sibling, adult child, or close friend. They never automatically receive your guide. When the time comes, they make a request to Avora. We verify the request through safeguards designed to prevent misuse and then release exactly what you set up for them to see. You stay in control of the contents at all times.
- Is Avora free to use?
- You can create a guide on Avora at no cost. Optional features and a future premium plan may be introduced later, but the core ability to build a private digital legacy guide will always be available.
- Does Avora work on mobile?
- Yes. Avora is designed to work on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. You can build and update your guide from any device with a modern browser, and your trusted contact can read your guide on any device as well.
- How do I update my guide?
- Life changes — and so should your guide. Log in any time to add new contacts, update document locations, change your wishes, or revise your personal guidance. Changes are saved automatically and encrypted before they leave your device.
